Veteran Officer Appointed as Interim Ennis Police Chief

Ennis, Texas (November 8, 2019) – The City of Ennis has selected a veteran police leader as its interim police chief following the retirement of Chief John Erisman earlier in the week.

“I want to share with the community that the Commission has appointed Andy Harvey as interim chief of police,” said Ennis Mayor Angeline Juenemann. “Chief Harvey has a long and distinguished career in law enforcement and the military and can provide stable leadership while we begin a search for a new city manager and permanent chief.

Chief Harvey was officially sworn in today by Ennis City Secretary Angie Wade.

Chief Harvey retired after 21 years with the Dallas Police Department achieving the rank of Major. Most recently he has served as the chief of police in Palestine, Texas. He is the author of the book “Excellence in Policing.”
