The Ennis Police Department is headed by Interim Chief of Police Andy Harvey (See Chief's page for the announcement)
The Ennis Police Department Administration consists of 3 Division Commanders, those personnel are:
Assistant Chief David Anthony - Administration Division
Assistant Chief Anthony holds a Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and has been employed with the City of Ennis for over 25 years. Assistant Chief Anthony started as a Dispatcher and has risen through the ranks to his current position. He oversees the day to day administrative matters of the Department and is the direct supervisor over Dispatch.
Lieutenant Fred Pontley - Patrol Division
Lieutenant Pontley holds a Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, is a TCOLE certified instructor and is the Department's Firearms Instructor and Rangemaster. He heads the most visible Division in the agency, the uniformed Patrol Division. Lt. Pontley has over 30 years of Law Enforcement experience.
Lieutenant Mike Hopson - Criminal Investigation Division
Lieutenant Hopson holds a Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and has been employed with the City of Ennis for over 20 years. Lt. Hopson heads the Criminal Investigations Division and supervises 6 Detective Sergeants. His Division is responsible for the follow-up investigation of any reported offense occurring in the City of Ennis.
