Stagnant or Standing Water

Standing or stagnant water less than ¼ inch deep may breed mosquitoes, which are known vectors for serious diseases such as West Nile Virus and Encephalitis.

You can eliminate standing water by doing one or more of the following:

  • Remove low spots in your yard
  • Remove cans buckets tires or bottles
  • Treat or remove stagnant water in pools and water features
  • Clean flower pots that may harbor mosquitoes
  • Clean clogged gutters
  • Replace outdoor pet watering bowls with fresh water daily

Stagnant water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Property owners must drain stagnant water on their properties.
