High-Speed Rail Meeting

An invitation to a hastily called listening session about the proposed Dallas to Houston high-speed rail project has been announced for Thursday, Aug. 4, at 6 p.m., at the Ennis Housing Authority Community Center. It is located at 200 Arnold Street. The meeting is described as an open house “to listen to your ideas, concerns and questions about the proposed high-speed rail project.” There will an opportunity to review maps and other project information as well as a chance to ask questions of project team members. No organization is cited as hosting the session. The invitation comes from the Federal Railroad Administration, who is preparing an environmental impacts statement related to the proposed railway. As the FRA stated, the purpose of the listening session is to comply with “Executive Order 12898 to seek input from minority and/or low income individuals. “The listening session will be conducted in English and a Spanish translator will be in attendance if requested. If you require special access or additional language accommodations, please contact Nancy Gates at 512-419-5303 at least two days before the meeting. FRA will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.”
