City of Ennis Announces New Police Chief

ENNIS, TX (June 9, 2021) – After a nationwide search, the City of Ennis has made a hire for their next Police Chief.

Strategic Government Resources (SGR) was selected to conduct the extensive search that resulted in an impressive candidate pool. SGR is an executive recruitment firm based in Keller, Texas, specializing in recruiting, assessing, and developing innovative, collaborative, and authentic leaders for local governments.

SGR’s proprietary recruitment and vetting process produced a remarkably strong field of diverse candidates. The City garnered 36 applications from candidates all over the state of Texas. From this pool the City has selected Dustin Munn to be the new Police Chief.

Dustin Munn has over 31 years of corrections, security, and law enforcement experience and is currently serving as Chief of Police/Director of the Department of Public Safety for the Methodist Health System Police Department in Dallas, Texas, where he has served since 2017. Munn began his law enforcement career as a Corrections Officer for the Texas Department of Corrections in 1990. He spent 7 years with the City of Corsicana Police Department, worked privately as an Owner/Partner with Millennium Investigations Group, and from there served the City of Kerens, Texas as Police Sergeant/Investigator, the Navarro College Police Department as a Police Investigator, the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff, and then the City of DeSoto Police Department first as a Police Officer, then rising to the rank of Investigator, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain.

Dustin has a master’s degree in Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration, both from Tarleton State University. He is also a graduate of the 48th Management College of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration of the Center for American and International Law, and he is a Certified Peace Officer with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
