The City of Ennis will experience a major event on Monday April 8, 2024, that will create an influx of visitors to the City of Ennis, directly impacting businesses and residents.
On April 8th, North America will experience a total solar eclipse called the “Great North American Eclipse”. There is a narrow path of totality and Ennis is directly on the center line meaning we will experience a longer duration of totality than our neighbors including Dallas, Waxahachie and Corsicana, and one of the longest durations in the US. This makes Ennis specifically one of the BEST places to experience the eclipse.
Ennis-4 min 23 seconds
Waxahachie-4 min 19 seconds
Corsicana-4 min 9 seconds
Dallas-3 min 49 seconds
Recent statistics released show Ennis could expect to see anywhere from 50,000 to 200,000 visitors, which will be in addition to the influx of visitors we will already be experiencing due to bluebonnet season. We expect this will impact Ennis not just that day but the entire weekend leading up to the eclipse. Hotels are completely booked, and we have heard incredible stories from people traveling from New Zealand, France and Beijing to Ennis, Texas.
More information on how to prepare for this event will be coming soon.
