Kaufman Street Median Project – Virtual Open House
This is your opportunity to view the 60% Plan Sets, ask questions, and engage with the team about what’s coming to one of our city’s major gateways as identified in our 2021-2026 Community Improvement Plan. Kaufman Street is a key local corridor; it also serves as the Business Route of Interstate 45 and falls under the jurisdiction of TxDOT.
The project includes:
A raised median with improved safety features – letting planned for Fall 2025
Landscaping within the median – letting anticipated Summer 2026
Over $3.5 million in total investment, funded through:
• Highway Safety Improvement Program – $2.0 million
• TxDOT’s Green Ribbon Program – $1.5 million +
