Historic Landmark Commission and Commissioners

The Historic Landmark Commission is responsible for overseeing the preservation and protection of historically and architecturally significant buildings and neighborhoods within the City of Ennis, Texas. The Commission meets on an as‑needed basis on the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held at City Hall, located at 107 N. Sherman St., Ennis, TX 75119.

Membership and Appointment

In accordance with Section 2.5.2 of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), the Commission is composed of seven (7) regular members and two (2) alternate members, all of whom must be residents of the City. Members are appointed by the City Commission based on submitted applications and demonstrated qualifications, with primary consideration given to individuals with professional experience in architecture, history, urban planning, real estate, law, archaeology, or other fields related to historic preservation.

Each commissioner is appointed to a two‑year term, with new terms customarily beginning in August of each calendar year.
