Ennis Welcomes New City Manager

We are pleased to announce the City of Ennis has finalized the contract with our new City Manager, Andrea Weckmueller-Behringer. Andrea will officially begin her role
on Monday, May 12th.
Andrea was selected for this position following a nationwide search that considered more than 100 candidates. She brings over 27 years of experience in municipal government and project management—17 of which have been in leadership roles. She most recently served as City Manager of Shawnee, Oklahoma, where her tenure was marked by major infrastructure initiatives, improved public engagement and transparency, and strategic planning for long-term community growth.
Andrea holds a master’s degree from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, and began her public service career in Lawton, Oklahoma. She went on to work for the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments, where she spent 12 years advising 35 member governments on regional planning and public policy. Her career also includes experience in the private sector as a planning and engineering consultant and leadership roles in regional planning organizations, such as the Walla Walla Valley MPO.
Her expertise spans a wide range of disciplines including transportation planning, comprehensive planning, public engagement, and infrastructure investment. Andrea is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), a registered Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), and a State of Texas-Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS). Most recently, she pursued her credentialing as an International City/County Management Association-Certified Manager (ICMA-CM). Furthermore, Andrea’s contributions to the City of Shawnee and the Walla Walla Valley helped secure the awards for “Outstanding Plan” and “Outstanding Contribution for Citizen Involvement” from the respective state chapters of the American Planning Association.
Andrea’s dedication to public service, strategic leadership, and her collaborative approach make her an outstanding addition to the City of Ennis. We are confident her leadership will help guide our city into a successful and sustainable future.
Outside of her professional life, Andrea enjoys traveling, hiking, gardening, sewing and knitting. She and her husband Fred, a native of Yukon, Oklahoma, have five grown children and three grandchildren.
