Ennis, Texas – We are pleased to announce that the City of Ennis has selected Matthew (Matt) Wojnowski to become the City’s new Assistant City Manager. Matt will officially start in his role on Monday, July 27th.

Matt was chosen following a nationwide search that attracted almost 100 candidates. He brings over 25 years of municipal leadership experience in both high-growth and smaller communities across Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. He most recently served as Assistant City Manager in Hutto, Texas; City Manager in Del Rio, Texas; and Assistant City Manager in Altus, Oklahoma, where he helped these communities manage growth, strengthen public services, and implement long-term strategic priorities.

Matt holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a business minor from Brigham Young University. He is an active member of the International City/County Management Association and the Texas City Management Association. His expertise includes broad supervisory experience across Texas and Oklahoma. He has managed departments and executive-level staff, finalized and presented major budgets, negotiated labor and service agreements, updated personnel policies, supported capital and strategic planning, and built strong working relationships with elected leaders, staff, local, regional, state, and federal partners.

Matt looks forward to working alongside the City of Ennis City Commission, staff, and residents to support Ennis’ hospitality and Bluebonnet Spirit and advance its bold vision for a thriving community with limitless potential.

Outside of work, Matt and his wife, Rebecca, stay busy with their five children. He enjoys cheering on Austin FC and the Argentina national soccer team, going on day hikes, and exploring family history and genealogy.
