Eligible employees contribute 7% toward retirement in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) and the City matches at a ratio of 2:1. TMRS is a statewide retirement system established in 1947 that provides retirement, disability, and death benefits for employees of participating Texas municipalities.
Each payday 7% of your gross compensation is deferred to be deposited to your TMRS Retirement account. You are not taxed on your member deposits or interest credits until you receive them from TMRS as a benefit payment. The City of Ennis matches your member deposits and interest at a rate chosen by the City. Currently, the City match is 2 to 1.
