Beginning January 2026, the City Commission will transition from two regular meetings per month to one regular meeting per month.
Current Schedule: 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM
New Schedule (Effective January 2026):
• Regular Meeting: 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM
• 1st Tuesday: Reserved for workshops, if needed
Special meetings or workshops may still be scheduled as needed for time-sensitive items.
Recent changes in Texas law require expanded notice periods for posting meeting agendas. Reducing meeting frequency ensures staff can meet all legal requirements accurately and on time.
Additional time between meetings allows staff to prepare more complete, well-vetted agenda items, supporting clearer recommendations and better-informed decision-making.
Preparing two meetings per month requires significant administrative, legal, and departmental coordination. A single monthly meeting reduces duplication of work and allows staff to focus more time on delivering projects and services.
Many cities of similar size hold one regular meeting per month, using special meetings only when needed. This approach balances efficiency with flexibility.
If urgent or time-sensitive matters arise, the Commission can still call special meetings or workshops to ensure critical issues are addressed without delay.
Even with fewer regular meetings, residents continue to have multiple, accessible ways to connect with the City:
Report issues or submit requests through the City’s 311 system. Submissions are automatically routed to the appropriate department.
