Fire Code: | The City of Ennis operates under the 2021 edition of the International Fire Code. All new construction, major renovations, and fire protection systems are reviewed and inspected to ensure Code compliance. All questions concerning the 2021 IFC can be answered by contacting the Fire Marshal’s Office. |
Fire Inspections: | The Fire Marshal's Office collaborates with the City of Ennis Planning and Development Department to ensure all new buildings comply with the 2021 International Fire Code, along with all applicable codes and ordinances. This includes overseeing permits and conducting plan reviews for new constructions and renovations. Our office also performs thorough acceptance testing on fire suppression systems, life safety systems, alarm systems, and conducts Certificate of Occupancy inspections to guarantee safety standards are met. Additionally, we conduct regular inspections of all commercial businesses to ensure continued compliance with fire safety regulations. These efforts help provide peace of mind to the community, ensuring that every building is safe for occupancy. |
Fire Investigations: | The fire marshal is charged by city ordinance to investigate the cause of all fires within the city. For all fires that are determined to be incendiary (arson) or suspicious, investigators work closely with police department detectives to identify responsible persons and to file criminal charges. |
Public Education: | The Fire Marshal plays a key role in promoting fire and life safety awareness within the Ennis community. Through the development and implementation of educational programs, the Fire Marshal helps teach both children and adults about fire safety and emergency prevention. This outreach is carried out through station tours, public appearances, and live demonstrations, ensuring that fire safety knowledge reaches a wide audience in a meaningful and engaging way. |
