Business or House Address - Numbers/Letters

The International Property Maintenance Code (City of Ennis Code of Ordinances) states that buildings must have approved address numbers placed in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. these numbers shall contrast with their background.

Address numbers must be arabic numerals or alphabet letters. numbers must be a minimum of 4 inches high with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch.

Buildings that have been assigned a street number must have the number visibly displayed in arabic figures (i.e., 1, 2, 3, or 1,2,3, A etc.) or spelled out in alphabet letters at least 4 inches in height and each stroke must be ½ inch wide.

Important.. easily legible numbers are essential for rapid response of emergency personnel
